My grandmother has a long history of mending, sewing and making garments both as a living and for hobby. In her 70's-90's she had a great hobby of Japanese thread painting or bunka shishu and stitched several beautiful canvases of flora and fauna. She made some to give away but I remember her hallway being filled with a display of these pieces.
I will be bringing her personal archive of threads, needles and finished and unfinished canvases to share with the SloFemists embroidery event on Saturday, February 22 1-4pm. We will be in the Textiles Institute in the Abraham J. Rogatnick Media Gallery, inside of Emily Carr University's North Building. No need to RSVP.
