The Disfiguring Identity website and publication has launched! I was very honoured to be part of this project and to speak amongst respected artists and curators on the topic of 'transpacific migration' as it relates to my own body of work and practice. The two-day symposium called Disfiguring Identity: Art, Migration and Exile marked the 100th anniversary of the Komagata Maru episode and was presented by the Surrey Art Gallery, On Main Gallery, and Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Fine Arts Department. These institutions turned to visual artists to guide a conversation on the power of art to critically address cultural stereotypes and experiences of migration.
