Autumn Strawberry Book Launch

I am pleased to announce my Autumn Strawberry Panel Discussion and Book Launch starting Saturday, April 29 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. I will be speaking with local organizers Lorene Oikawa and Tami Hirasawa to discuss the histories of Japanese settlement and farming in Surrey and the Fraser Valley. Admission is free.

The panel will discuss the role of memory and art in revealing the stories associated with place and their continued influence on the present. This will be followed by the launch of the limited-edition artist book, Autumn Strawberry.

Autumn Strawberry is a special artist edition boxset, including the full script of my multimedia animated installation (printed in six scene booklets in the style of full colour manga). Designed by Vicky Lum, the edition features essays by Namiko Kunimoto and in-conversation texts with my collaborators Lisa Mariko Gelley (choreographer) and Nancy Tam (Sound Designer and Original Compositions).

Books are made available for purchase on site at the book launch and will be available at the Surrey Art Gallery please contact: artgallery@surrey.ca
