Arboreal Time at Gibson Art Museum

Marianne and Edward Gibson Art Museum has officially opened its inaugural exhibition Edge Effects which includes Arboreal Time, a semi permanent installation with over 40 kodamas, tiny tree spirits made out of porcelain inspired by the forests of Burnaby Mountain. The exhibition runs from September 20, 2025 to February 15, 2026 and features work by Lorna Brown, Justine A. Chambers, Patrick Cruz, Lucien Durey, Sameer Farooq, Jared Stanley, Elisa Ferrari, Germaine Koh, Helena Krobath, Liz Magor, Pietro Sammarco, Liz Toohey-Wiese , Debra Sparrow, and Jin-me Yoon.

Woodwork by Minoru Yamamoto, ceramics technical assistance by Julia Chirka, and studio assistance and installaiton support by Cherry Wen Wen Lu. Special thanks to Mackenzy Albright and Hannah Rickards for installation expertise..
